#3: Maltese Clubs Train Under Hadi Mostaan

Maltese athletes were given a Sunday to remember after renowned Iranian athlete and coach Hadi Mostaan hit Malta’s shores on the 15th and 16th of April.

The seminar came together in a quickfire fashion following the MTA’s announcement just one week prior. Regardless, Mostaan made his way to the Iron Taekwondo League’s Dojang. There, he was welcomed by students as young as seven years old.

Various athletes from local clubs attended the event. 22 participants from Iron Taekwondo League, four from Dragon Academy and two from Birzebbuga Taekwondo Club.

The legendary Hadi Mostaan needs no introduction. Aside from being a world vice-champion (2013), the former 10-year Iranian national player bagged silver in the Global Universiade Games (2012) and two bronze medals in the 2014 World Cup and Manchester Grand Prix (2014). In his retirement from competition, Mostaan became a coach of the Iranian National Team.

Without a doubt, the incentive heightened local athletes’ resolve as they look to continue competing abroad.

In the coming weeks, national athletes Michela Scerri (ITL) and Alycia Cassar (ITL) will be participating in the ranked Albanian Open (G1). Athletes from Dragon Academy will follow alongside, fielding their own contingent at the event.

The MTA would like to take this opportunity to thank Hadi Mostaan for his expertise, professionalism, and willingness to help Maltese athletes - both young and old - in their development as athletes.
