#36: Two Silver Medals For Maltese Players At Aquila Open (UK)

Dragon Academy’s Nathan Degiorgio and Luke Chircop competed in Aquila Taekwondo’s ‘Aquila Open 2024’ and returned with two silver medals.

The competition took place on the 6th of April in London, England. It was another experience for the two athletes to mature in light of the upcoming high-level competitions organised by the Malta Taekwondo Association,

Luke Chircop (cadet -57 kg) won his quarter-final 2-0 and semi-final 2-1. He then lost in the final with a score of 2-0. Nevertheless, the young athlete walked away with a well-earned silver medal.

Nathan Degiorgio (junior -55 kg) had one opponent in his category so he fought directly in the final. Nathan clinched a first-round win but lost the next two rounds. Nevertheless, he walked away with the team’s second silver medal.

“Their fights were truly a memorable sight,” wrote Dragon Academy in an online press release. “There were plenty of lessons taken back home and two silver medals.”

The team was led by coach Mauro Busuttil.
