#8: Three Students Achieve New Black Belt Status In MTA Dan Grading

The Malta Taekwondo Association welcomes - and congratulates - three of its members for attaining a new black belt status.

The Dan Grading session took place on the 24th of June 2023 at 16:00 and was overseen by a panel of no less than four examiners appointed by the MTA.

On the day, cadet athletes Jean Schembri (Iron Taekwondo League) and Michela Scerri (Iron Taekwondo League) achieved their first and second poom respectively. In addition, Senior athlete Glenn Galea (Dragon Academy) achieved his first Dan.

The three students were graded by:

  • Grandmaster Andy Jefferies (8th Dan), United Kingdom

  • Master Priyantha Kumara (6th Dan), Sri Lanka

  • Master Zhang Qi (6th Dan), China

  • Master Neville Desira (5th Dan), Malta

The association would like to thank the Iron Taekwondo League and Dragon Academy for their efforts in preparing all three students.
